It decomposes in air above 126.6 ℃. Mainly used as a chelating agent and strong alkaline catalyst, as well as a methoxy agent drug. A small amount is used for pesticide production. It can also be used as a catalyst for processing edible fats and oils, especially for processing lard. It can also be used as an analytical reagent.
